写人的作文以前练过，大多数开头描写外貌，中间叙述人物二三事，结尾点题作文不难写，可是往往情节简单，人物单薄，缺少新意，更难以产生打动读者的力量。那么，如何提升作文水平，让人物形象在你笔下生动起来？我们可以借鉴一下本单元课文中有关写人的方法。总结一下，有以下几点：
一是写人物外貌要抓住特征，突出精神性格。
例如鲁迅写清国留学生，就抓住帽子、辫子、脖子进行生动刻画：写帽子形成一座富士山，辫子油光可鉴，还要将脖子扭几扭，实在标致极了。几笔就刻画出他们思想腐朽、不学无术、附庸风雅的丑态。
二是运用比喻夸张等修辞手法，突出人物特征。
例如茨威格写列夫q托尔斯泰：

我们的作文人物单薄，情节单一的一个重要原因就是材料单一导致人物形象不丰满。我们看，胡适写《我的母亲》，不仅写母亲在教育孩子方面既是严父又是慈母，还写母亲作为一个大家庭里当家的后母，与败家子大哥和不懂事的嫂子相处，宽容隐忍、慈祥大度；写母亲应对债主，镇定从容又温和善良；对待别人*蔑自己的名节，又显出正直刚烈的品行。通过阅读课文，使读者不禁深深地同情母亲在那个封建社会里处境的艰难，又暗暗敬佩母亲的.大度和坚强。她具备了旧社会里女子的一切传统美德，这些美德给年幼的胡适以耳濡目染和潜移默化的影响。结尾的抒情议论如果我学得了一丝一毫的好脾气，如果我学得了一点点待人接物的和气，如果我能宽恕人、体谅人我都得感谢我的慈母。才合情合理。多角度选材，能丰富人物性格，使人物形象丰满起来。
